Excel Map Reflection

Personally I liked the excel map project. It was a great way to learn the information in each chapter, and to look into a specific topic a little more closely. There are a couple things on my map that I would have liked to change but nothing too big. I probably would have worked on more extra credit if I could do it again, I had so much extra time that I didnt take advantage of. Some of the comments also were too big to fit on the one screen without scrolling. Overall I think I did pretty well though. My favorite comment was the one on Alki because I used to go there a lot and I lived very near there. I still love the area as well.
What I learned in chapter 10

In chapter 10 I learned about world war II. Specifically I learned about Hooverville’s. I spent most of my time reading about them actually. Theres something about homeless cities on the outskirts of Seattle that really spiked my interest. Hooverville Seattle was one of the first and largest in the country. Also, the Great Depression. And how much it affected everyone.
What I learned in chapter 9

In chapter 9 I learned about the Gold Rush and the Worlds Fair. The alaska-Yukon-Pacific Gold Rush was important to Washingtons history because it brought many people in to look for gold or to sail out to where the gold was. The worlds fair was also very important because it brought 3 times the population to seattle. They had auctions where they gave away babies even!
What I learned in Chapter 8

In chapter 8 I learned about railways and the Chinese exclusion act. The c.e.a. was a law passed saying that chinese cant do ___, ____, and ____. Basically excluding them from things whites could do or where they could live. Also, I learned where the first railways were built and where they stopped. I even mapped out the routes.
What I learned in chapter 6

What I learned in chapter 6 was about missionaries and settlers. Many white people settled where the Indians were living to try to teach them about Christianity. That was their many purpose, to transform them into hard core Chritians. Although the Indians were not willing to change their religion, they were perfectly ahppy and saw no reason to change their ways.
What i learned in chapter 7
Posted on June 11, 2010 at 1:10 pm by taylormmrt09 and
In Chapter 7 I learned about Chritian Missionaries. Most importantly though, I learned about the Whitman Massacre. This was important because 14 people were killed over a misunderstanding by the Cayuse Indians. Also, the Whitmans were trying to force religion and culture on the Indians. Overall there was a very tense relationship between the whites and Indians.
What I learned in Chapter Five

What I learned in Chapter Five was about Fur Trading Companies. The Pacific Fur Company, The Hudson’s Bay Company, The Rocky Mountain Fur Company, and The Northwest Fur Company were the major fur trading companies in Wahington. Fur traders killed animals like beavers, otter, and foxes to make fur pelts to wear.
What I learned in Chapter Four

In Chapter Four I learned many interesting things about explorers such as Lewis and Clark. Lewis and Clark along with 29 other men were sent to map out the west in 1804. Lewis was more of an expolerer then Clark was; Clark was more of a mapmaker than Lewis was. Along the way they met up with Sacajawea. She ended up helping these two explorers in more ways than imaginable. She helped them communicate with the Indians, hunt, nd find their way around. Another explorer I learned about in this chapter was Robert Gray. Robert Gray claimed the San Rogue River for the United States. He also discovered Bullfinch Harbor, now named Gray’s Harbor. These are just a few of the explorers I learned about on this chapter.
What I learned in Chapter Three

In chapter three the thing I’ll remember most is the Coastal Indian way of life. What I learned is that that Coastal Indians were the first people to use metal in t heir tools. Also, they skinned tree’s and used the bark to weave baskets, make tools, and accesories, This was important to our states history because it showed craftsmanship and life techniques.
Crusades-Practice CBA-Reflection

To start off, I’d like to say that I think the quality of my final page was pretty good. I think the best part about it would be #5, my paragraph about the Christians during this time. It’s the best part probably because I put the most work and effort into this part of it. If I could re-do this project I would probably make both my Introduction and my Conclusion a bit longer. I liked several things about the process we used this time. For instance, I liked Diigo better than I liked that one website we used taht we coukld draw on and stuff. But I didnt really like was citing the websites on those worksheets, only because we have to write the same thing on our page anyway…
